Catholic Standards

Spiritual directors listed on the Catholic Spiritual Directors Network agree to adhere to the following standards of practice and fidelity:

• Fidelity to the Church: Practice in full fidelity with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Sacramental Life: Actively participate in the sacramental and prayer life of the Catholic Church.
• Authentic Spirituality: Do not incorporate New Age practices, occult practices, or alternative spiritualities that conflict with Catholic teaching.
• Professional Boundaries: Maintain appropriate personal boundaries and strict pastoral confidentiality.
• Clear Distinction: Recognize the explicit distinction between spiritual direction, psychological counseling, and formal mental health treatment.
• Personal Accompaniment: Maintain their own ongoing personal spiritual direction to ensure their own spiritual health.

Notice: Each spiritual director remains entirely independently responsible for their own formation, practice, and professional conduct. The Network provides this platform as a public directory and does not supervise individual director practices.
